Several years ago, I happened upon a mobile home park that was in desperate need of help. For months, I kept telling others, “Someone should do something!” I didn’t know what. They didn’t know what. So nothing was done.
Eventually, the Lord asked me, “Why don’t you?”
So in October 2014, after more thought and prayer, I committed. I told the residents in that community that I would offer free tutoring; anyone who was interested was to show up at 3:00 the following Wednesday. What followed was nothing short of divine confirmation: 30 children showed up to be tutored.
The tutoring has continued, and with it our ministry has grown into a full-fledged 501(c)(3). We provide tutoring three times a week and during the summer. We also run summer programming events for the children we serve. Plus, with the help of local partners, we’ve been able to provide school supplies, school uniforms, an lunches during the summer.
Right now, our ministry work is done both outside on picnic tables an in our trailer on site. We’re hoping to further expand the trailer to be a more permanent presence in the community. With it, we hope to continue providing tutoring and mentoring, along with ESL classes, Bible studies and additional outreach programs.
But we can’t do any of it without your help. We need supporters: donors, volunteers and prayer warriors. If you’d like to volunteer or learn more about the ministry, please contact us at [email protected]. If you’d like to financially support our ministry, you can give online!
